A Black-Tie, Travel-Theme Fitler Club Wedding

Emma & Nate’s black tie, travel-theme Fitler Club wedding was the perfect mix of elegant, unique, and fun! The two got ready for the day in guest suites at the club before making their way to the rooftop terrace for their first look. They loved having part of the Philadelphia skyline in the background of their portraits! Emma’s bridesmaids dressed in all black, making for an elegant vibe in the city setting. Later, they traveled to Broad Street for portraits in front of City Hall, a staple of Philadelphia weddings!

Back at the Fitler Club, planner and stylist All About Events was transforming the ceremony space and ballroom to fit the moody, romantic vibe Emma dreamed about. The ceremony took place under a floral arch as candles lined the aisle. Right after the ceremony, while guests entered cocktail hour, Emma & Nate changed into sneakers. They had a special moment hidden away, just the two of them. They’re both huge sneaker people, and Emma loves shoes in general. While she loved her heels she had on for the ceremony, swapping shoes together while enjoying one of their signature cocktails was one of the most fun moments of the day for them. Emma’s were Jimmy Choo and Nate’s were Nike!

Cocktail hour took place on the outdoor patio. The space was complete with a light up “LOVE” sign and balloon arrangement from Charming Garlands. Guests were welcomed to leave a message for the couple using the After The Tone audio guest book, it was such a cool touch! At cocktail hour, cups featuring the couple’s pup Luna were a special detail! They wanted Luna to be a part of their day even though she couldn’t be there in person to celebrate. Cups with a custom drawing on them reminded everyone that Luna was still there in spirit!

An airport theme seating chart welcomed guests into the reception room. The entire space was adorned with countless details, including pass-port menus, romantic candles, floral arrangements, and a disco ball above the dancefloor. Music and dancing were of course key elements of making the night fun. Nate and Emma entered their reception room to the song “My Chick Bad” by Ludacris- a personal favorite of theirs! All of their guests were surprised by Nate’s great dance moves. They then went directly into their first dance, and halfway through were joined by all the guests to get the dancing and party started right off the bat! Starting the night with a dance set really set the tone for a fun, dance filled evening!

From Emma:

We wanted a wedding that was the perfect mix of elegant and fun, while also being very “Philly.” The Fitler Club was a mix of all of these things – entering through an alley way, guests may not have known what to expect! We wanted everything to be easy for our guests, and to not have to go from venue to venue, while each part of the night seeming like it was a different “event”. All of the spaces at the Fitler Club made that vision a reality. The ballroom made for a perfect ceremony location, and then while we were enjoying cocktail hour in the garden, the team of vendors transformed the ballroom into something entirely different and fun for the reception, with a disco ball and all! You couldn’t even tell it was the same space. In the spirit of fun, we hosted our after party in the Fitler Club’s trophy room, where guests could bowl and play pop-shot, pool, and old school arcade games. It was fun for all ages up until the very end of the night! The “airport” and airline details were super special. We both travel so much for work and personally, that the subtle details (seating charts, menus, etc.) were a way for us to do something a bit different than your traditional signage that also had a special meaning to us! We wanted our cake cutting to be a fun portion of the night, and not something that we just did off to the side! Rather than a more traditional song, we chose to cut our cake to the song “you need to cut it”, and it definitely got the crowd excited!
