TRAVEL GUIDES

Hi there! Welcome to the Magdalena Studios blog, a journal where we share weddings, travel, resources for brides & entrepreneurs, and a glimpse of our lives. When we're not photographing some of the most romantic weddings around the world, we're either fixing up our beach bungalow, surfing and swimming in the ocean, or cooking up veggie burgers. Alongside my (soon-to-be) husband Scott and our trustworthy team of creatives, our life mission is to capture joyful love stories and effortless real-life moments.

French Influenced Autumn Wedding at Cairnwood Estate

As Seen On Mod Wedding

Elyse & Nick’s wedding at Cairnwood Estate was a day of old-world elegance and French influence at this Philadelphia wedding venue. Their color palette was made of neutral, dusty mauves and muted apricot with pops of cornflower blue and butter yellow. The florals were designed to look as if they were picked from a garden just before the event! The formal dress code contrasted perfectly with the informal garden setting that surrounded The Estate. The Cairnwood Estate church is something out of a dream! The cathedral is so stunning and provides a magical backdrop for portraits. Their venue inspired E&N to lean toward a French-influenced vibe- romantic and ethereal lavender, muted tones. Cairnwood Estate was one of the first places this couple we searched when looking for wedding venues in the Philadelphia area. The two couldn’t believe this castle-esque place existed just outside of Philly! They both loved the European style of the Estate, the lush grass and foliage, and the breathtaking architecture of the Cathedral. The grounds were everything they had envisioned for their wedding day, and we were absolutely thrilled to photograph all of the beauty!

From The Bride:

“We planned our wedding at Cairnwood Esate from across the country and finding a photographer was a top priority of ours. (Things will go wrong on your wedding day but your pictures are forever!) When I found Magi on TheKnot, I went over to her Instagram and loved how beautiful her images were. Light, soft, and romantic-just what we were looking for. We didn’t get a chance to meet until our wedding day so we did everything by phone. Magi noticed something in our timeline that we otherwise would have missed that helped rearrange our day and because of that we wound up with gorgeous sunset pictures. Magi and her husband Scott were INCREDIBLE. When Magi came in, I was having a mini freak out about my flowers that were not at all what I had asked for. She immediately went into help mode and even offered to speak to the florist herself. I can say with confidence that not many people, let along your photographer- would do that. I loved her vision of the day and her artistic eye for our pictures. She and Scott not only made us feel comfortable, but everyone else felt comfortable too! We talked and laughed all day. She and Scott stayed longer than planned when I asked for extra hours and were so nice about it. We are so happy with our pictures. They are just what we had envisioned and we are so glad that we chose Magi for our pictures, but were so happy with how sweet both she and her husband are during an emotional rollercoaster of a day! We haven’t received our wedding album yet, it’s only been two months, but I’d highly recommend couples to do so. You’ll receive a lot of images but in my opinion, it would be difficult to make your own album. We chose to have Magi do our album because I trust her eye because this is her expertise. I can’t say enough great things about Magi and Scott!” – Elyse
