Hi there! Welcome to the Magdalena Studios blog, a journal where we share weddings, travel, resources for brides & entrepreneurs, and a glimpse of our lives. When we're not photographing some of the most romantic weddings around the world, we're either fixing up our beach bungalow, surfing and swimming in the ocean, or cooking up veggie burgers. Alongside my (soon-to-be) husband Scott and our trustworthy team of creatives, our life mission is to capture joyful love stories and effortless real-life moments.

Enchanting Old World Garden Party at The Old Mill Rose Valley

As Seen in Philly Mag

This dreamy, joyful and romantic wedding at the Old Mill in Rose Valley, PA was every bit of enchanted! As the bride described it perfectly, it was an old world garden party feel, with exquisite decor and details designed by Clover Event Co. The Old Mill Rose Valley is a beautiful wedding venue in Media, PA and the aesthetic has an enchanting and magical feel and is now one of my favorite wedding venues in PA. Kelsey and Mike are the absolute sweetest couple, and everything about their day was so memorable and well thought out… from their decor to their flowers and attire. I especially loved their romantic first look in the dreamy meadow by the venue. Thank you Kelsey and Mike for letting us get to know you and be a part of such a beautiful and special day!

From The Bride:

When planning our wedding we set out to have an “old world garden party” aesthetic to the day, while making sure our guests felt a light, cheerful vibe that made them happy to celebrate us as a married couple but also join us in wanting to party as a group of great friends and family. I had my eye on The Old Mill Rose Valley even before we were engaged, and once we visited it during our venue search, there was no comparison to how unique and enchanted the grounds were. We chose incredible vendors that embraced our vision and made it all come to life, even better than we imagined it. Our beautiful bridesmaids and handsome groomsmen felt like the statement centerpieces to the entire wedding by donning dusty pastel colors like mauve blush, sage green, gray blue mixed with pops of vibrant peachy pinks and bright lavender. This color palette radiated against the lush greens of our venue. Our florist absolutely nailed every aspect of the bouquets and floral designs. When our bridesmaids all came out in the venue’s meadow for photos with their flower crowns and romantic bouquets, it literally felt like they were fairys in the forest – it was magical!

For our looks, we both knew we wanted something a little different than the black tux and fitted ball gown. Mike’s green slim fit suit from ASOS was so him – subtly unique! We ordered his tie from an Etsy Shop (Beau Tie) and it was such a statement to his whole look. It all came together with a tie clip he made from a special piece of jewelry, an “S” ring his late grandmother Shirley wore. My Truvelle dress made me feel all the ways I hoped our wedding would feel – dreamy and romantic.

Beyond the look of the wedding that our amazing vendors so perfectly created and captured, our day felt HAPPY. Of course, as the bride and the groom we felt that way, but we saw it in our guests and heard it from them directly that they loved the incredible food (we opted for family style dinner and a donut wall!), dance floor music, great cocktails and late night cheesesteaks to go. It was important to us that our guests to have a memorable and fun time – so much so that some would tell us we were too concerned with everyone else and not enough about what we wanted. But, what we wanted was for people to have a blast and share in the joy with us – and that meant special details that people could not just look at, but also experience.

About Their Photo Experience:

We fell in love with Magi’s work instantly after being referred to her by my maid of honor. Her photos are so personal and her attention to detail makes everything she shoots look magazine-worthy.  Magi and her team are so dynamic and incredibly personable which I think helps brides and grooms be themselves on the other side of their lenses. They capture the love between people – couples, families, friends, etc. Beyond loving Magi’s style of photography, she is an incredible business woman. I thoroughly enjoyed being a client of hers as she sent thoughtful gifts leading up to the wedding. She mailed a special “Bride to Be” kit with nail polish and a coffee gift card, and even went above and beyond to send me a bouquet locket when learning my brother passed away during our engagement…it was so touching and made me feel that much more grateful to have her part of our wedding. On the wedding day, Magi and her fiancé Scott were not only creative and enthusiastic about their work, which translated into the most stunning photos ever, but they were a blast to be around which made taking photos a true highlight of the day.

Wedding Tips From The Bride:

Our wedding ceremony was actually our rain plan. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, I refused let my mind accept that it could rain and only imagined myself walking down the aisle where it was supposed to take place, which was in a meadow that looked like a scene from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The dreamy space was practically the reason we booked the venue. When the forecast called for a dreary, rainy weekend I had a hard time letting go of what I imagined for that special part of the day and couldn’t help but feel like I was getting jipped by moving it to the venue’s attached pavilion.

I could not have been more wrong about getting jipped. The pavilion turned out to be the most intimate, romantic space for our ceremony—I think I even liked it better than the original plan! And, our amazing planner, photographer, and videographer took advantage of the rain stopping for a couple of hours to get breathtaking portrait photos in the meadow after all. All of this to say, no matter what the weather forecast calls for, if you’re marrying the right person, and trust the professionals you have hired to make your day extraordinary, it truly all works out to be the perfect day you imagined.

One more tip… Hiring a wedding planner who not only managed logistics but worked to style the décor of the wedding was worth the investment! Working with Clover Event Co. made wedding planning such an amazing process and despite any stressers along the way, I knew my planner would make it work!
