A Classic Wedding at Water Works by Cescaphe

Monica and Lauren’s wedding at Water Works by Cesaphe was timeless, romantic, and incredibly meaningful. Set along the river in the heart of Philadelphia, this celebration brought together their love story, their favorite city, and the people who have supported them since the beginning.

Both brides chose to skip traditional getting ready coverage, so we joined them for the final touches before the first look. Their first moments together were emotional and full of excitement. Their dog, Brady, joined in for a few portraits and nearly stole the show with his sweet cameos. From there, we explored the Water Works grounds, capturing portraits against the stone architecture, riverfront views, and skyline in the distance. The space is so special to them, and they wanted to incorporate all of the iconic scenery on their wedding day! They walk there often with Brady in their daily life, and they always imagined this spot as the place where they’d say “I do.”

The wedding party was dressed in all black, a chic contrast to the white bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, roses, eucalyptus, and Italian ruscus. The ceremony took place in the open-air space overlooking the water. Their friend Dan officiated, creating a heartfelt and personal moment that reflected their journey. Lauren’s Aunt Debbie shared a traditional Polish blessing and Monica’s lifelong friend Grace read a poem. One of the highlights was Monica’s grandmother, Beverly, serving as the ring bearer. It was deeply meaningful to have her play such an important role.

Monica and Lauren had written their own vows and chose to read them to each other privately before the ceremony. It was an intimate moment the two of them will always hold close. As the harpist began “Invisible Strings” by Taylor Swift and they walked into the ceremony, they both noted that they felt a sense of calm wash over them. Instead of nerves, they felt peace and gratitude with all their loved ones gathered around them!

The reception embraced the same black and white palette with elegant gold accents. Tables were filled with candles, white florals, and black bows. The indoor-outdoor setting of Water Works set the scene for an unforgettable evening. Guests filled the dance floor from the moment the music started and the celebration carried late into the night.

What made this day even more special was the significance behind it. Their relationship was full of near misses before their first date. From unknowingly standing feet apart at a Chelsea Cutler concert in 2020, to being at the same bar during a game weekend in Charlotte, their paths crossed multiple times before finally connecting in 2022. Once they met, everything clicked and they have been inseparable ever since. Even more special: once they began to connect the dots of their invisible string, they found each other in the background of photos from the events! Their wedding was a beautiful reflection of who they are: stylish, genuine, fun, and deeply connected.
