Featured weddings and sessions, resources, travel guides, and my own personal musings.
This wedding is extra special to us, as Clare and Jon are close friends of Magi & Scott. We’ve known them for years, so it was even more of an honor to photograph their wedding! Clare and Jon met at Surfer Supplies in Ocean City, NJ when they were 14 and 15! Years later, after dating for the better part of a decade, they got engaged on the beach where they grew up and spent summers together. The vibe of their wedding was laid-back, authentic, and special. Jon is an avid surfer, so the beach and the water played a huge role in the day. They got ready close to the church and Jon & his groomsmen rode beach cruisers to the ceremony! “It’s the only way we get around in the summer and it was important to my husband that they honored that tradition. The pictures are pretty incredible, too,” said Clare. After the “I do’s,” everyone made their way to the beach, just a few blocks away, for portraits. It was a perfect September day here at the Jersey Shore!
Later, we made our way to the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for more dreamy portraits on the dock. The light was so perfect throughout the entire day! The golden hour portraits were some of our favorites. The celebration began in the reception room and Clare & Jon danced the night away with their family & friends. We loved photographing our sweet friends and we’re so excited to share these gorgeous photos. Scroll to see the magic!
A piece of wedding advice from bride Clare: “Hire people you trust so that you can let go of control and enjoy the time spent with family, friends, and your new spouse on your wedding day. For our honeymoon, we went to different surf spots in France, Spain, and Portugal. Highly recommend taking time away with just your spouse to bask in the post-wedding glow!”
From Clare:
“Our wedding came together pretty easily! We wanted a venue with an indoor-outdoor feel, preferably with a view of the water, and it had to be large enough to hold our 230-person guest list. Not many places fit that bill, but the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City was perfect. We wanted a cocktail style, casual vibe for the night, and Caitlin, Event Coordinator at YCSIC, understood our vision immediately- and she made it come to life on the day. We wanted small and understated wildflower arrangements for the bouquet and table settings, and Robyn Balmer with Petal + Paper was easy to work with, and helped us turn very broad inspiration pictures into our perfect reality! Choosing the Strangers was a no-brainer, the 11-piece band played at two family weddings in the past and always bring the people to the dance floor. And choosing Magdalena Studios was the obvious and only choice. Magi’s team brought a level of organization to the planning, and to the flow of the wedding day that I do not possess. I would not have been as relaxed or able to enjoy every second of our wedding day without the Magdalena Studio team! And their product speaks for itself. The pictures preserve every emotion and moment perfectly.”
