A Surprise Proposal At Barnegat Lighthouse, Long Beach Island, NJ

Some moments feel like they’re pulled straight from a movie, and Carlee and Chris’ proposal at Barnegat Lighthouse was exactly that. The evening began with a simple plan. Their family had dinner reservations nearby, and before heading over, Chris suggested a quick walk to the lighthouse to take a few photos while everyone was dressed up. It felt easy, natural, and completely unsuspecting. Carlee had no idea what was about to unfold.

With the lighthouse standing tall behind them and the soft coastal light beginning to shift, Chris got down on one knee and asked Carlee to spend forever with him. The surprise was perfect. Her reaction was filled with pure joy, and the moment felt both intimate and unforgettable. Soon after, their family joined them, surrounding the couple with hugs, laughter, and so much love. It turned into a full celebration right there by the shore. They popped champagne as the sun began to set, soaking in every second of their newly engaged glow.

Then, as if the moment needed any more magic, a light drizzle began to fall. And just as quickly, a rainbow appeared, stretching across the sky above them. It was breathtaking. We captured portraits of Carlee and Chris in that exact moment, the soft rain, the glowing sky, and the rainbow framing their joy in the most beautiful way. They couldn’t stop smiling, and honestly, neither could we. It was one of those rare, perfect evenings where everything comes together effortlessly.
